Biosettler R&D Grant

The QUESTOR Centre has partnered with local companies Enisca and Colloide Engineering Systems to continue the development of the BioSettler. The partnership has successfully obtained a grant from Invest NI’s Grant for R&D scheme, part funded by the European Regional Development Fund under the Sustainable Competitiveness Programme for Northern Ireland.

The BioSettler, which began life as a QUESTOR funded PhD project, is a low cost low energy retrofit for existing secondary settling tanks at wastewater treatment plants, allowing pollutant removal performance to be boosted without the need for additional treatment tanks. The R&D Grant will fund the building and operation of a full-scale working prototype, which will generate the data needed to qualify and quantify the benefits of the BioSettler system.
